Love these fun IDs for the Canadian preschool channel called Family Jr, created by Toronto-based production company Tendril. Unfortunately these spots weren’t selected as the final direction for the station.

While looking for Christmas gift ideas for my kids, I stumbled upon the Cubic House by French toy company Djeco: A doll house inspired by modern architecture!
Featuring clean geometric lines, large glazed surfaces and colorful interiors, this has to be the most luxurious, modern and beautiful doll house I have ever seen. I almost decided to buy it, but unfortunately the house plus the furnishing & inhabitants do not come cheap, so it is on my future wish-list. Because I told myself, it’s ok to pretend to buy this for my youngest daughter, when in fact I would be getting it for myself!
I love the forms in this wooden “credenza” with bronze geometric pattern on the sliding doors. Designed by Two is Company, an Athens-based duo of an industrial designer and an architect. Their inspiration comes from ancient Greek patterns, symbols and structures, which they beautifully redefine with a contemporary modernist style.
This is what I call comfort food! These soft and adorable food-props are created by Jessica Dance, a UK-based art director, model maker and prop stylist. All the food is made out of wool, because she knits all of them on her knitting machine using 100% lambswool. It is part of The Comfort Food Series in collaboration with photographer David Sykes.
Ikea organized a competition for children to draw a fantasy toy. The 10 winning entries were then turned into cute plush toys and Ikea will sell them around the world as part of its Soft Toys For Education campaign. Check out this video to see more for the procedure. Such a great idea and for a good cause!
I find these tiles so beautiful and also so retro. The Brasiliana collection is made of natural and colored wood tiles, designed by Renata Rubim for Oca Brasil and comes in three styles: Tribal, Modernist, and Colonial and represent distinct periods of Brazilian design history.
I love it when designers get imaginative. This is a smart desk that converts to a bed, from Athens-based Studio NL. Useful for those late working hours.
This is Juvet Landscape Hotel in Norway, by architects Jensen & Skodvin.
The hotel has the so-called “landscape rooms” that are basically small “cubes” on stilts, with glass walls that offer each space a striking view of the valley, the river, the courtyard or the dramatic gorge below. This is what I call a room with a view!
A table that tells you what you can make with various ingredients and also heats your food, no stove required? “A Table for Living” is a concept from Ikea for the future kitchen of 2025.
Ikea made an impression in this year’s EXPO Milan 2015, where they presented their prototype for a concept table that helps you decide what to prepare, suggests recipes, but also weighs and heats the food. All that, besides being a regular kitchen table! The designers see the concept table as a “preparation surface, hob, dining table, work bench and children’s play area”. How cool is that?
Many cool patterns to be found on this website called Pattern Library, which you can also download and use freely. This is a project by Tim Holman & Claudio Guglieri, an on-going collection of patterns shared by talented designers.
If you also have a great pattern you want to share, you can send it to them and they will add it to the collection.
