A great idea if you have a garden: a multipurpose igloo designed both as a winter garden and a summer sitting or playing area. Oh, I know my kids would go crazy with this! Of course you could just turn it into a storage room or a garden shelter, but it’s a shame because it looks too good.

“When we look at a well-known logo, what we perceive isn’t just a word or an image or an abstract form, but a world of associations that have accrued over time.
As a result, people forget that a brand new logo seldom means a thing. It is an empty vessel awaiting the meaning that will be poured into it by history and experience. The best thing a designer can do is make that vessel the right shape for what it’s going to hold.”
Pentagram Partner Michael Bierut shares his wisdom on what makes a truly great logo design. He also has a new book out “How to: Use graphic design to sell things, explain things, make things look better, and (every once in a while) change the world.”
Μeet DESKi, ZIGGi, and CLASSi, three new lamp designs from Studio Cheha now based in Tel Aviv. The lamps look just like actual three-dimensional modern lamps but, in reality, if you turn them to the side, you can see they are two-dimensional. You can order one here.
The Nesting Shelf by Nendo, is described as: “A shelf that, from within, a second shelf of the same size seemingly grows outward.”
The Nest shelves have the amazing ability to double in width, making them ideal for any small and large space. The construction of the piece is based on an ultra-thin horizontal section, that slides inside the outer shelving. When expanded to its fullest the shelf doubles in size. How come nobody ever thought of this before?

Now that we are proud owners of a cat, this caught my attention. Obi is a beautifully designed fun toy for cats. It is a device that sits on a shelf but when activated, it projects a laser light on the wall, that makes cats go wild trying to “catch” the light. Although quite expensive, it’s worth checking out its Kickstarter campaign.
This is a chapel I would love to visit. It is Apostle Peter and St. Helen in Paphos – Cyprus. Architect Michail Georgiou, collaboratorated with Theresa Kwok for this tiny 56 m2 structure that consists of a steel frame and a thin shell.
Nick Knight and his team at SHOWstudio have created this beautiful video, using older and unseen footage from Knight’s collaborations with Alexander McQueen. It features some of the designer’s most acclaimed pieces and was created in the occasion of V&A’s exhibition Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. Sadly I did not have the chance to see it, but it turned out to be the most popular show in V&A’s history.
I can’t believe these hilarious “Yoga Joes” by Dan Abramson. The classic plastic toy soldiers are now doing sun salutations, headstands and warrior poses. And as the slogan says, they are “Here to keep the inner peace”.
I am starting to look into campers, in case we rent one next summer. I saw this camper and was impressed by the modern style and the fact that it actually expands in triple its size with the press of a button.
Last night I watched the 1960 original Ocean’s Eleven with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the rest of the Rat Pack and although I have to admit it looks a little dated, you can’t beat the title sequence by the great Saul Bass.
