A few days ago, illustrator and letterer Lauren Hom decided to sell all her belongings, leave her Brooklyn house and travel for a whole year, planning to visit more than 20 countries. So in order to fund part of her trip, she designed this lovely series of travel-inspired, hand-lettered posters. You can tell I have a soft spot for lettering and travel, right?
Designer Tommy Perez found a creative way to teach his 2-year-old daughter Zoë the alphabet with his project ‘A to Zoë’.
Lettering by my favorite Jessica Hische. There is actually a chocolate version of this, for the Dove Chocolate campaign by BBDO.
These ceramic Hasami numbers from House, combined as freestanding fixtures or hanging flower vases. House Industries is a US type foundry that has expanded to design with a very retro feel.
I love number 7 – I think it would also look great in a very large size, like one meter high.

‘Tis the season to be jolly and the season to be funny! This is a selection of my favorite funny christmas cards for this year. Emily McDowell’s humorous and relatable cards are on top of my list.

The buildings of 26 important architects are transformed into letters of the alphabet in this series of whimsical illustrations by Federico Babina. The Barcelona-based architect and graphic artist says “the idea on which the Archibet project is based is to find a way to express the diversity of forms and styles that make up the architecture. Each letter is a small surrealist building that becomes part of an imaginary city made up of different shapes and styles that speak the same language of architecture”.
OliverJeffers, a Brooklyn-based artist, perhaps best known for his award-winning and hugely popular children’s books, is also my favorite children’s book author. But besides the picture books, he is also an artist, working with drawings, paintings and collages – I personally have a thing for his illustrated maps.
In his excellent interview for Yatzer he also talks about his other artistic projects, the Dipped Painting series and his current exhibition of landscape paintings called “Measuring Land and Sea” at Lazarides Gallery in London this month.
